Procreate is a great application for artists to use as a medium to create amazing artwork.
I personally use it as a digital journal for mapping and visualize artwork that will soon go on a canvas. One of the most beneficial tools that I use for the early stages of my pieces are the color palettes.
Procreate has a very easy to use and accurate color palette analysis feature when you upload a picture. Find the step by step on using it below:
What is a color palette? What are color palettes used for?
Color palettes are combinations of certain colors to collect all hues and values collected from an image or an image that will be created. Oftentimes, color palettes can be manually created from starting with two colors and mixing them at different quantities to see all possible variations in between the two.
Color palettes are often used for cohesive comprehension of different variations of colors. Seeing combinations and experimenting with different options can help an artist achieve balanced artwork.
How to Create a Palette on Procreate
Select the color function in the upper right hand corner
Click on the Palettes icon in the bottom right
Select the “+” icon in the upper right
From there, you can select if you would like to create your own manual palette or if you would like to select an image, file, or take a photo actively.
This feature is one of my favorite tools to use on procreate and makes visualizing my color scheme for my canvas so much easier. For someone like me who struggles developing their own color groupings, it really aids the process in creating a cohesive color base.
